Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • Copyright clearance has been obtained for any 3rd Party content included in submission
  • The paper aligns with one of the PATT40 conference sub-themes (as outlined on the conference website: www.patt40liverpool.com)
  • At least one author will attend PATT40 to present this paper (register at the conference website: www.patt40liverpool.com)

Author Guidelines

Submissions for PATT40 can be made between Monday 3rd October 2022 and Friday 27th January 2023.

The PATT40 Conference Committee are inviting submissions for papers on the theme of ‘Diverse Experiences of Design and Technology Education for a Contemporary and Pluralist Society’. Papers will be organised on this theme under four strands:

  1. Diverse and inclusive ways of knowing and being in design and technology education (philosophy and culture)
  2. Exploring and advancing teaching and learning for design and technology education (curriculum, pedagogy and assessment) 
  3. Measuring impact of design and technology education in and beyond the classroom (evidence-based practice) 
  4. Approaches to teacher preparation and development in design and technology education (teacher education and development)

Abstracts must be a maximum of 300-words in length and identify 3 to 6 keywords. Please identify the relevant strand when submitting your abstract.

The full papers must be a maximum of 3000-words, including references.
