Submissions
Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.- The submission has not been previously published, nor is it being considered for publication in another Journal (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
-
We, as Editors, want to publish good quality research which is of interest to our readers. When first receiving a submission, we will consider the abstract, conclusion and references to evaluate if the submission fits the Journal’s mission and focus. Your manuscript is more likely to be accepted if it:
1. is carefully prepared and follows the guidance for submission specified by this Journal
2. is within the scope of the Journal (e.g., qualitative research, counsellor and psychotherapist readers)
3. describes research that advances the field (research or practice) and develops research in the field, showing awareness of other literature
4. uses clear language and is reasonably well-written, having checked spelling, grammar and referencing formats
5. demonstrates appropriate ethics and ethical thinking. - The submission file is in OpenOffice or Microsoft Word format. The text is single-spaced with a space between paragraphs, employs italics rather than underlining (except with URL addresses), and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed at the appropriate points within the text rather than at the end.
- Please ensure that you submit (upload) TWO copies of your article - one named (identifying authors' names) and the second as blind. Your blind version should be labelled clearly as 'blind' and not include your name.
-
The front sheet of the manuscript should contain relevant information about the authors, affiliations and relevant funding or disclosures of competing interests. This front sheet should be omitted from the ‘blind’ copy submitted. Please note:
1. Author details – If the article is published, all contributing authors will be named at the beginning of the paper, and a brief biography (including affiliations, professional websites, ORCiDs and social media details, if available) will be placed at the end of the article. Otherwise, only the email and affiliations of the first author will be listed on the front page.
2. Funding details – Please supply details required by your funding and grant-awarding bodies, for example, “This work was supported by the [Funding Agency] under Grant [number xxxx]”.
3. Disclosure statement included in your submission that you acknowledge any financial or non-financial interest arising from your research. Please declare any ‘competing interests’ within the article, for example, “The author reports there are no competing interests to declare”. - Please supply 3 - 5 keywords or phrases directly below the abstract. These should capture the essence or focus of the paper.
- The text adheres to APA stylistic and referencing requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines. Check all quotations carefully to ensure they are exactly as in the original version, including spelling, punctuation, indents, wording, bolding, italics, formatting, etc. Use 3-point dots (...) to indicate text left out of a single sentence. Use 4-point dots (....) to indicate material left out between sentences or paragraphs. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
- Copyright clearance has been obtained for any 3rd party content (e.g. images and diagrams) included in the submission.
- We, the authors, acknowledge that the Editor may reject our submission if we do not follow the submission guidelines.
