Assessing the Impact of Remote Work on Employee Performance in Telecommunication Companies
a post-COVID-19 case study of Intelcia Egypt
Abstract
Since the onset of COVID-19, remote work has significantly altered employee performance in the telecommunications sector. This study aims to evaluate the effects of remote work on employee satisfaction, productivity, and overall efficiency at Intelcia Egypt. It also examines the methods used by the company to monitor and assess remote employee performance and investigates the role of technological advancements in managing remote work. Employing a qualitative approach, the research involved eight interviews with middle-line managers experienced in remote operations. The findings reveal three main themes: the influence of remote work on operational efficiency, encompassing aspects like cost reduction, work-life balance, and employee engagement; the evaluation of performance assessment methods in terms of fairness and effectiveness; and the pivotal role of technology in facilitating the adoption of remote work practices. Results indicate that remote work settings, when equipped with appropriate tools and technology, are advantageous for both employers and employees.
