Information For Authors

The Journal of Social Media for Learning is a double blind peer-reviewed, open-access, journal that seeks to publish high quality research and scholarly articles at the leading edge of development of theories, practices and pedagogy that increase insight, support understanding and add to the International discourse about all aspects of the use Social Media for Learning.

We seek to capture the very best ideas, to make this a useful journal where we can share impactful strategies that have the power to make a difference to student outcomes. We welcome submissions in all formats (papers, posters, presentations, opinion pieces, technical reports), and these may include reflection pieces outlining changes in your practice. Most importantly, we are seeking to be inclusive. So, if you are new to research or publishing that isn't a barrier, so please don't be put off submitting. We don't want to miss out on sharing your great ideas. Our review process is designed to help not hinder, and to gain experience and understanding you could offer to become a reviewer.

We also recommend that you review the About the Journal page, as well as the Author Guidelines. You will need to register as an author to submit to this journal. Use the register link at the top of the journal homepage.

 

We welcome submisisons in the following formats:

Papers /Articles (Typically between 3,000 - 6,000 words)

Reviews (Typically up to no more than 1,000 words)

Opinion Pieces (Typically between 1,000 - 3,000 words)

Reflections  (Typically between 500 - 1,500 words)

Technical Reports (Typically no more than 6,000 words)

Video and Audio Submissions (Typically no longer than 20 minutes in duration). 

Poster presentations.

 

Note to Authors:

Please do not upload PDFs. Please upload you paper/submission in a format that we can easily adapt as this supports us in ensuring a speedy process during the production stages. Please also include all tables, figures and digrams as you would wish them to appear within the main body of your submission.

Please also ensure that the names of all authors, their affiliations and contact details (including social media) are made clear and are as you would wish them to appear on your published paper when you submit.  

The Journal welcomes opportunities to publish substantial literature reviews in order to consolidate contributions which have been made within the field of Social Media for Learning. Special Issues and themes within issues, focusing on specific aspects of Social Media are welcome. These can be commissioned by the Editors, or the editorial board are happy to receive proposals from the community.   

This is a new journal so please forgive us should there be any little glitches, everything seems to read and work well but if you spot any errors or incur any issues when submitting please do not hesitate to let us know.
